Artist Statement
I am a mix media artist who makes works on different quality papers. Working with printmaking, watercolor, and color pencil. I will either combine two or more mediums together or keep them as separate pieces of work. I begin by making multiple sketches, then decide whether to turn them into prints. After making test prints or a final drawing, I will add watercolor and, or color pencil. My work may include repeated images, but each piece is unique conveying themes of loneliness, identity, and humor. By using line, color, negative space, and the figure; the work I make becomes a form of self-expression and storytelling. Using inspiration from artist like Aubrey Beardsley, Alphonse Mucha, and Gustav Klimt. I bring together the use of line work, negative space, and color using multiple mediums. While making references of graphic novels and pop culture, my art has a modern take compared to the art nouveau artists.
